TYPE COMPUTER NETWORKS
Generally, a computer network is divided into five types, namely;1. Local Area Network (LAN)Local Area Network (LAN), a private network inside a building or campus-sized to several kilometers. LANs are often used to connect personal computers and workstations in a corporate office or factories to use shared resources (eg printers) and exchange information.
2. Metropolitan Area Network (MAN)Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), is basically a LAN version of the larger and usually use the same technology with a LAN. MAN could include corporate offices are situated near or also a town and can be used for private purposes (private) or public. MAN capable of supporting voice and data, it can even connect with a cable television network.
3. Wide Area Network (WAN)Wide Area Network (WAN), its scope covers a wide geographical area, often covering a country or even continent. WAN consists of a collection of machines that aims to implement programs (applications) user.
4. InternetActually there are many in this world networks, often using hardware and software are different. People who connect to networks often wish to communicate with other people connected to other networks. This desire requires the relationship between networks that are often not kampatibel and different. Usually to do this requires a machine called a gateway in order to establish relations and carry out the necessary translation, both hardware and software. This is a collection of interconnected networks called the Internet.
5. Wireless NetworkingWireless network is a solution to the communication can not be done by using a cable network. For example people who want to get information or to communicate despite being located above the car or plane, then the wireless network is absolutely necessary because it is impossible to make cable connections in the car or plane. Currently the network without wires already rife used by utilizing satellite services and provide faster access speeds than networks using cable.
COMPUTER NETWORK topology
Topology is a way to connect computers to each other so as to form a computer network. Way that is currently widely used is the bus, token-ring, star and peer-to-peer network. Each has a characteristic topology, with the advantages and disadvantages.
1. BUS Topology
There are advantages and disadvantages of this type are:
Advantages:- Save cables- Layout simple cable- Easy to develop
Losses:- Detection and isolation of very small errors- Traffic density- If one client is damaged, then the network could not function.- Required repeater for long distance
2 Topology TokenRING
TokenRING topology shown in the scheme above. Token-ring method (often called ring only) is a way of connecting computers so shaped ring (circle). Each node has the same level. Network will be called as a loop, data is sent kesetiap node and eachinformation received by the node address is checked whether the data were for him or not. There are advantages and disadvantages of this type are:
Advantages:- Save cables
Losses:- Touchy error- Developing a network of more rigid
3 STAR Topology
Control is centralized, all links must pass through the center of all these nodes distribute such data or the client chooses. Central node is called primary or server stations and other stations are called secondary or client server. After a network connection initiated by the server, each client server at any time can use the network connection without waiting for commands from the server. There are advantages and disadvantages of this type are:Advantages:- Most flexible- Fitting / changing station is very easy and does not interfere with the other networks- Centralized control- Ease of detection and isolation of errors / defects- Kemudahaan network managementLosses:- Wasteful cable- Need special handling- Control center (HUB) to be a critical element
4. Topology Peer-to-peer Network
Peers meaning co-worker. Peer-to-peer network is a computer network comprising several computers (usually no more than 10 computers with printers 1-2). Within this network system is the preferred usage of the program, data and printer together. Named Dona computer users can use programs installed on your computer Dino, and they both can print to a printer at the same same.
This network system can also be used at home. Computer users who have a computer 'old', such as AT, a new computer and want memberli, say Pentium II, no need to dispose of old computers. He simply put netword card in both computers then connected with special cables used for network systems. Compared with the third way, a network system is more simple so it is easier to learn and use.
